OK first off, Beowulf clusters don't necessarily ''have'' to be run on open source software. A lot are, it's not a requirement though. Secondly, there are much better sources that a Slashdot posting, readily available. In all known publications both names are used - probably due to the connection with HPPC computing and MPC (massive parallel computing) and other distriduted ways of high performance computing. Robert Tito | Talk

OK well here's another test... on the page http://beowulf.org it's "Beowulf.org is a collection of resources for the expanding universe of users and designers of Beowulf class cluster computers."
Beowulf is a class of cluster. There are other types of clusters (/me goes off and looks to see if the Mosix article exists on CZ) --Eric M Gearhart 11:13, 30 March 2007 (CDT)

OK first off, Beowulf clusters don't necessarily have to be run on open source software. A lot are, it's not a requirement though.
