Glasgow is Scotland's largest city and the third largest in the United Kingdom. Locals, known as 'Glaswegians', number some 630,000 within the city, which is well-known for its distinctive Scottish English accent and the widely-spoken local forms of the Scots language. It is a strong business centre, while in sport it is the host of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. It is the northern terminus of the West Coast Main Line and is connected to England by way of the M74 and M6 motorways. It is a common misconception that Glasgow is Scotland's capital city - whilst being the largest and most important city in Scotland, it is not the capital, that honour going to nearby Edinburgh.
