New Girl is a sitcom airing on the FOX network beginning on September 20, 2011. It stars Zooey Deschanel as Jess, the eponymous new girl in the apartment where much of the show's action takes place. Her flat-mates are Nick (played by Jake Johnson), a bartender who has taken a lot of hard knocks from life, Schmidt (played by Max Greenfield), a womanizer who is a white-collar professional, and Winston (played by Lamorne Morris), who has recently returned from playing basketball in Latvia. Rounding out the cast of main characters is Cece (played by Hannah Simone), Jess' best friend.

The first season of the show ran in 2011–12, and comprised 24 episodes, with the premiere airing on September 20, 2011, and the season finale on May 8, 2012. FOX has renewed the show for a second season; the second season will debut on September 25, 2012.
