Singer and songstress

Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between the two? Since she has a French-sort of name, couldn't she also be called a chanteuse? Or, as they used to pronounce it in the States, a shan-too-zee....Hayford Peirce 20:49, 18 June 2007 (CDT)

Image

Ugh, I removed the image in this article because it just does not convey a professional impression. Can someone try to find a professional image? It is doubtful one will be found for free. It is probable one can be used by permission. ---Stephen Ewen 21:20, 18 June 2007 (CDT)

I tried to get a better free picture but can't find any. The only way to get free images seems to be 1) find one from U.S. federal government/military, 2) from Flickr. The one I put there is not a good pic, but the best commons one i can find on flickr. I agree if we can get one with permission it would be better! Yi Zhe Wu 21:26, 18 June 2007 (CDT)
It is doubtful a quality open content photo of her will be found! ---Stephen Ewen 21:27, 18 June 2007 (CDT)
Here is one to perhaps use: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Avrillavignex.jpg - I'll try to get it. Stephen Ewen 21:33, 18 June 2007 (CDT)
On researching that image further, the data is likely falsified and it was misrepresented by the now defunct alavigne.org. However, I have located Lavigne's agent and the email, and a photo they have control over. When this article gets close to being nominated for approval, let me know and I'll do my best to get permission to use the image. ---Stephen Ewen 23:19, 18 June 2007 (CDT)
Whoa, I didn't know that WP's OTRS guys would be dishonest, or it was a mistake? Britney Spears was lucky enough to have a picture taken by U.S. Navy. :-) Yi Zhe Wu 00:09, 19 June 2007 (CDT)
I do not think the OTRS folk are being dishonest over the fact that they have an email from the webmistress of alavinge.org saying they could use the image. However, it is unclear from the wikimedia page and this whether she gave usage permission or released it under the GFDL. Still, those are not the main issues. After surfing around alavinge.org at webarchive.org, I have my serious doubts that alavinge.org held the copyright to the image in the first place. Let's just say Assume Good Faith can have its definite drawbacks. Still, I am hopeful the image is "clean" and am still trying to verify it so. :-) ---Stephen Ewen 00:28, 19 June 2007 (CDT)
Prodded by my efforts to use the image here above board and documented, the Wikimedia Commons has actually nominated the image for deletion, see here. ---Stephen Ewen 05:55, 22 June 2007 (CDT)

Yea, I know. But I can respect this young lady. She seems stable and has actually grown up along with her chronological age, something not too common among such musicians.  —Stephen Ewen (Talk) 17:38, 11 October 2007 (CDT)

Probably Britney Spears is an example of unstable musicians? But it's the media and all the guys who envy her that relentlessly pursued her trivial "scandals".
