John Wisden (5 September 1826 – 5 April 1884) was an English cricketer in the middle years of the 19th century. He was an outstanding bowler who played mainly for Sussex at county level. He was chiefly associated with the United All-England Eleven – with Jemmy Dean, he acted as joint secretary of the venture. He was a member of the England team which undertook the inaugural overseas cricket tour to North America in 1859. In 1864, Wisden founded the annual Wisden Cricketers' Almanack.
