The Minnesota Twins are a Major League Baseball team based in the Minneapolis-St. Paul twin cities area of Minnesota. The team was founded in 1901 as the Washington Senators, one of the inaugural teams in the American League. The team moved to Minnesota and became the Twins starting with the 1961 season. The team has had a total of three championship-winning seasons since the beginning of major-league baseball's modern World Series in 1903, winning the World Series in 1924, 1987, and 1991.
