In reading this over, I see some areas that I think need to be better explained. Russell D. Jones 19:43, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

1. The split between Clinton and Van Buren. This occurs in the bitter years between the Embargo of 1807 and the War of 1812 which Clinton opposed. Where did Van Buren stand on that? This article doesn't say.
2. Nor is it explained how blocking internal improvement bills in the Congress protects the Erie Canal. Couldn't the Erie Canal benefit from federal money? Or was it the fear of federally-funded competitors? The article isn't clear.
3. Why does Van Buren go from being a Jackson opponent to being a Jackson supporter? This goes with the Clinton flip-flop (Clinton flip-flop?!) above. The article just doesn't explain important shifts in Van Buren's political behavior.
4. Why did Van Buren opposed Calhoun (I mean besides the fact that he was Calhoun)? Again the rationale for Van Buren's politics is ignored.

Son of Burr?

Let's not forget that in Gore Vidal's wonderful Burr the narrator says outright that Little Marty, or whatever his nickname was, had actually been fathered by Aaron Burr.... Hayford Peirce 21:19, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
