Possible complementary article
Take a look at CIA activities in Argentina. Believe me, I neither think CIA is the heart of evil, nor the soul of good. While I am no expert on South America, though, I think that both the direct US-Argentinian involvement, as well as among the security systems of different South American countries, gives some interesting cultural and political insights.
