Baghdad is the capital of Iraq. It is officially under the new Iraqi government, but there is still a substantial amount of insecurity following the high-intensity part of the Iraq War, and has substantial Multi-National Force-Iraq (MNF) troops assigned to it.
It is located at the junction of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, a location that has been suggested as the position of the biblical Garden of Eden, and is a city with a history that goes back to the beginnings of civilization.
