The Index of Forbidden Books (Latin, Index Librorum Prohibitorum), also called the Index and the List of Forbidden Books, was a list of books and publications prohibited by the Roman Catholic Church. This was published during the Renaissance era in response to humanist works.[1]
The original publication of the Index was by decree of papal bull.[2]
