Mark, thanks for your work so far on Software Engineering. I think it's a great start and hope small storm feedback won't deter your energy. I'm one of those in favor of modestly-sized introductory articles pointing out to subtopics, including special articles on "history of SE" and the like. The introduction of the article might benefit from some kind of more explicit acknowledgement of the confusion about how to define software engineering. What makes software "good"? How many projects "fail"? (We'd need to give some evidence or references for that, too). What does it mean for a project to "fail"? Etc. The top-level article could, in my opinion, contain questions and not exactly answer them (see Language for an example of this kind of approach). It might be a way to deal with issues that, otherwise, people will debate to death, and beyond. Anyhow, welcome to Computers workgroup. Your efforts are much appreciated. Keep up the good work!Pat Palmer 01:10, 24 October 2007 (CDT) |
