borders 7 other countries? presumably the 7th is india, through its claim that pakistan illegally occupies kashmir? Ro Thorpe 22:45, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Where is that reference? The lede (under the graphic) says it borders six countries, which are explicitly identified. I'm not seeing it, but I have other things on my mind. (Herding feline veterinarians is even worse than herding cats. Not sure if I'm going to be up all night, but I'm due for a 2-3 hour drive in the morning to get him to the right specialist.)
Now, normally, one does not think of India sharing any borders with Afghanistan -- although India certainly wants influence, and anyone who thinks of Afghanistan without considering the Indo-Pak relationship is not seeing the real picture. If you look at Durand Line, however, you will see an argument that certain Afghans have made that since Pakistan did not exist at the time of the agreement, the Pakistani border doesn't exist, or something like that. Too much for me at the moment. Howard C. Berkowitz 00:14, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

i changed it from 7 to 6 - sorry, i should've made that clear. i don't claim to know much about this beyond the basic geog. i'd never heard of the durand line, but certainly pakistan does rather get in the way.

i've been following the saga of your cat - mr clark, isn't it? all the best to you both - Ro Thorpe 00:44, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Image

Does the centred image position look bad to anyone else? I tried looking at it with the image over to the right and it seemed much better. Maybe it is just my browser but when I open this article I basically see a title and a map, and have to scroll down for text, but with the image on the right the text appears down the left. It looks the same, and bad, to me. Ro Thorpe 00:06, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
Alrighty, let's try it over to the right of the page and see if there are any objections. David Finn 06:10, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

ISAF commander

Is no longer McChrystal? David Finn 10:17, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. The problem is that sort of material doesn't belong in this article, but in Afghanistan War (2001-2021). I have no good answer to the maintainability problem of having the smae discussion in multiple places. 18:41, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
