Ecumenical councils
The Roman Catholic Church recognizes 21 ecumenical councils. The Eastern Orthodox Church recognizes only the first 7, the Anglican Communion only the first 6, the Oriental Orthodox Church only the first 3, and the Church of the East only the first 2.
