Illnesses that are caused by five distinct families of RNA viruses: the Arenaviridae, Filoviridae, Bunyaviridae, Togaviridae, and Flaviviridae, characterized by fever and bleeding disorders that can all progress to high fever, shock and death in extreme cases.
