Domestic abuse is a spectrum of behavioral problems, by members of a family or household. It may be associated with domestic violence, and the terms are often used interchangeably, but domestic abuse is not limited to actual physical assault. Other forms of domestic abuse include emotional abuse, sexual abuse, deprivation of food or other necessities of life, or financial predation. Substance abuse, alcoholism and other addictions may exacerbate or complicate abusive behaviours.
