- As far as I know, "The" was not part of the name, any more than it was of the "Local Defence Volunteers".
- It might be worthwhile to cross-reference to the ground observer corps of the Battle of Britain, who actually had a critical role -- after the Germans crossed the coast, observers were the primary way the air defense tracked their flights.

- What is missing? It seems correct to me.
- My copy of Anthony Cave Brown's Bodyguard of Lies, which has material both on Home Guard and Aux Units, is somewhere on the shelf; there are some other references for which I'll have to search.--Howard C. Berkowitz 01:55, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
