This article is without any sources. I notice that it started with one large edit. Is it from another source that we need to give credit? --D. Matt Innis 21:06, 5 May 2008 (CDT)
- Google is your friend. None of these seem to be exactly it. J. Noel Chiappa 21:29, 5 May 2008 (CDT)
- Did you get to take a look at the Encyclopedia Brittanica? I haven't gotten complete access yet. --D. Matt Innis 07:09, 6 May 2008 (CDT)
I was under the impression that Citizendium was not going to require citations for almost every sentence (as it currently happens in Wikipedia), because of the presence of experts (if this is not true then somebody needs to correct this [1]). I can explain why this article started with one large edit. Because Citizendium does not allow articles with less that 250 words, I decided to work off-line on this biography (using a word processor) and only post the material when I had at least 250 words. Also, I am not a native speaker of English, so I need to check dictionaries and other books to try to make sure that I'm not using words or language constructions that may sound awkward in English. When I feel comfortable with what I've been working I post it here.
I guess that if someone wanted to copy, they wouldn't be silly to point of copying from Britannica or from some other source that could be easily found via Google... --José Leonardo Andrade 14:11, 8 May 2008 (CDT)
- Hi José, I'm sorry if you misunderstood my concern. I am not asking for a citation for almost every sentence. What I am asking for is at the very least a bibliography, or more preferably some references that properly credit sources for this information. Nothing more than we would expect from a Phd. As an example, while you were working on this on your PC offline, what sources did you refer to? --D. Matt Innis 14:26, 8 May 2008 (CDT)
I don't know of books written in English about Pedro Álvares Cabral. The books that I used were in Portuguese, I didn't see the point of citing them on an English encyclopaedia. I also remember reading this article from the Catholic Encyclopaedia [2]. --José Leonardo Andrade 17:05, 8 May 2008 (CDT)
- Ahh, that makes sense. Let's bring in a history editor and see what they might want. I'll invite Richard Jensen(talk). --D. Matt Innis 17:40, 8 May 2008 (CDT)
