FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association, known throughout the world by its French-language acronym, FIFA) is the international governing body for association football. Founded in 1904, its headquarters are in Zurich and it has 211 member associations. Its goal, according to the official website, is the constant improvement of football. Specifically, FIFA governs worldwide football tournaments, the most notable of which is the World Cup.
