Elinor Ostrom (born 1933) is an American political scientist known especially for her interdisciplinary research on common pool resource management. In 2009, she became the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Ostrom and her husband, Vincent, were co-founders and are active participants in the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis at Indiana University.
