Yuma Proving Ground, of the U.S. Army, is both a physical test facility in the desert conditions of Arizona, but also a headquarters for military environmental testing at tropic (Tropic Regions Test Center, managed from Panama with operations in multiple countries), and cold (Cold Regions Test Center, Alaska) test sites. It is a resource to all parts of the U.S. Department of Defense.
The facility was established as a frontier fort in 1850, and as a quartermaster depot in 1965.
