Multiple definitions of the Near East are used by different organizations. To the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, it includes Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.
As used in the United States intelligence community, it consists of Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey, countries of the Arabian Peninsula and countries of The Levant. Countries of the The Levant include Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestinian Authority and Syria.
