It was recorded in February 1987, at the Sol Studio, Cookham, Berkshire, and released on 7 May 1988 by [[Geffen Records in the [[United States of America|United States and in the [[United Kingdom. The [[song is underpinned by workmanlike heavy drumming from [[Jason Bonham, and sweeping minor-chord [[riffing by [[Jimmy Page. John Miles' vocals add a gruff bluesy tone. 'Wasting My Time' lyrics are about a relationship that went no-where and it's time for the parties to move on. The band appeared on the music video for the single, and was one of the most requested [[MTV songs of 1989. It is still regularly screened to this day on [[VH1 Classic's metal show.
