A simile is a comparison used in literature which employs the use of "like" or "as" to reference one construct to another. The idea is to conjure a specific notion about the initial idea to enhance its descriptive power.

Examples of similes:

  • Your eyes are as blue as cloudless a summer sky.
  • John's hair was like twine; knappy and frayed.
