Biography

Hilary Ehrard Duff is the second daughter of Robert and Susan (nee' Cobb) Duff, born the 28th of September 1987 in Houston, Texas. At the age of six, she began performing Cecchetti ballet with her two years older sister Haylie, winning a role in the Columbus BalletMet production of The Nutcracker. In 1998, at age 11, she and her family moved to Los Angeles and Duff landed a role in the movie Casper Meets Wendy. Soon after followed roles in the movies The Soul Collector and Human Nature, and, in 2001, she won the role that would make her a star around the world: the role of the title character in the Disney Channel TV series Lizzie McGuire. The show was an instant success, making Duff a household name and spawning a CD soundtrack (which included a song recorded by Duff, a cover of Australian Brooke McClymont's "I Can't Wait") and the 2003 motion picture The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

After the show ceased production, Miss Duff devoted herself to filmmaking and recorded, starring in such movies as Agent Cody Banks, Cheaper by the Dozen, A Cinderella Story and Material Girls. Her multiplatinum debut album, titled Metamorphosis, was released in August 2003, featuring the hit singles "So Yesterday" and Come Clean." In September 2004, she released her self-titled second album, which also achieved wide commercial success, though sales were lower than for her debut. Singles from that album included the songs "Fly" and Her third album, titled Dignity, featuring the usually blonde Duff with dark hair on the cover, was released in March and April 2007 and included the songs "Play with Fire" and "With Love," both released as singles.

In addition to films, television appearances and music CDs, Miss Duff has a clothing line (called Stuff by Hilary Duff and launced in 2004) and her own fragrance, called With Love... Hilary Duff.
