Science Fiction is a genre of story telling involving alternatives to what is currently considered scientifically possible. It is often set in the future or in far distant corners of the universe. There have been many examples in short story, novel and motion picture form. Science fiction became popular in the 19th century with authors like Jules Verne, Edgar Allan Poe and H.G. Wells.
