Adams political family

For what it's worth, I have never heard of the "Adams political family". Google searches seem sparse and mostly turn up Wikipedia and it's mirror sites. I suggest it be either removed, or at least unlinked, in the intro paragraph. Perhaps Dr. Jensen can shed some light on whether or not this is a commonly used term. --Todd Coles 22:23, 8 October 2007 (CDT)

there are a couple scholarly books on the Adams political family, such as Descent from Glory: Four Generations of the John Adams Family by Paul C. Nagel (1999) and The Adams family, (1931) by James Truslow Adams (no relation). as well as popular books (Adams National Historic Site: A family's legacy to America by Wilhelmina S Harris; Meet the remarkable Adams family by Lillian J Bragdon (1967) and of course the many-volume letterpress edition of the Adams Family Papers underway at Harvard UP. It included 3 people on national tickets and various ambassadors, governors, advisors etc 1770-1910. Richard Jensen 07:14, 9 October 2007 (CDT)

Sons of Liberty

Was John Adams officially a member of the Sons of Liberty? I've read a lot of conflicting information on this - some say he was a full member, others say that while he supported them he kept his distance. --Todd Coles 13:39, 5 November 2007 (CST)

Ferling: not a member, but did help them Richard Jensen 14:12, 5 November 2007 (CST)
I changed "joined the Sons" to "cooperated with the Sons", with a qualifying footnote, is that okay? Also his cousin Sam was a leading member. Yi Zhe Wu 14:47, 5 November 2007 (CST)
I changed it to "supported" because I thought it sounded better, but either is probably fine. --Todd Coles 14:51, 5 November 2007 (CST)
