Emergency management is the highly interdisciplinary art and science of responding to natural disasters, accidents, and deliberate violence, both at the routine level of local firefighting, emergency medical service, police and critical infrastructure services, but also when local resources are overwhelmed. It encompasses both the organization and preparation of local services, and planning for disaster response.
