Jim Higgins was a Canadian veteran of the Spanish Civil War.[1]
Spanish writer Manuel Alvarez recounts how Higgins saved his life, during the war, when he was just eleven years old, in "The Tall Soldier: My 40-year Search for the Man who Saved my Life", published in 1980.[1]
