Walt Whitman bridge in 2013

The Walt Whitman bridge spans the Delaware River as part of Interstate Higuway 76 between South Philadelphia and Gloucester City, New Jersey. The bridge is named after the poet Walt Whitman, and it is one of the larger bridges on the east coast. The bridge opened for traffic in 1957 and is painted green.

For details about the naming of the bridge, see the Walt Whitman article.
