Nguyen Co Thach/Definition

A North Vietnamese revolutionary who became a professional diplomat, involved in the Paris Peace Talks and later attempts at normalization with the United States after the Vietnam War. Affiliated with pro-Soviet factions, he was eventually removed, in 1991, from his post as Foreign Minister and from his seat in the Politburo, in the interest of better relations with China
