Ottava rima is a stanzaic form originating in Italy. It is normally in iambic pentameters and the rhyme scheme is abababcc. Its best known use is probably in the Orlando Furioso of Ariosto, a light-hearted,[1] mock-heroic epic. Byron used it for his Don Juan, also in the light-hearted, impetuous style.
