Reichsicherheitshauptampt [r]: That part of the SS that contained both State and Party organizations considered part of Nazi Germany's security organization. For example, the Gestapo (RSHA Amt [office] IV) was a state organization with secret police responsibilities, while the Sicherheitsdienst (SD, RSHA Amt I) was a party organization with domestic and foreign intelligence duties.
