Sholem Aleichem [r]: (1859-1913) Pen name of Sholem Naumovich Rabinovich, a Russian-born, Yiddish-language humorist and author of short stories, novels, and plays, including Tevye der Milchiker (Tevye the Milkman), on which Fiddler on the Roof is based.
